چکیده

Abstract Deuterium plasma discharges of the Divertor Tokamak Test facility (DTT) in different operational scenarios have been predicted by a comprehensive first-principle based integrated modelling activity using state-of-art quasi-linear transport models. The results this work refer to updated DTT configuration, which includes device size optimisation (enlargement R 0 = 2.19 m and 0.70 m) upgrades heating systems. focus paper is on core modelling, but special attention was paid consistency with scrape-off layer parameters required achieve divertor detachment. compatibility these physics-based electromagnetic coil system capabilities then verified. In addition, first estimates sawteeth edge localised modes were achieved.

Global gyrokinetic simulations of the H-mode tokamak edge pedestal

Global gyrokinetic simulations of DIII-D H-mode edge pedestal show two types of instabilities may exist approaching the onset of edge localized modes: an intermediate-n, high frequency mode which we identify as the “kinetic peeling ballooning mode (KPBM),” and a high-n, low frequency mode. Our previous study [W. Wan et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 185004 (2012)] has shown that when the safety fac...

Transport Simulations of KSTAR Advanced Tokamak Scenarios

Predictive modeling of KSTAR operation scenarios are performed with the aim of developing high performance steady state operation scenarios. Various transport codes are employed for this study. Firstly, steady state operation capabilities are investigated with time dependent simulations using a free-boundary transport code. Secondly, reproducibility of high performance steady state operation sc...

Test Ready Core Design for Teaklite Core

This paper describes test ready core design methodology for TeakLite core. Implementation issues and techniques about test access with minimal test pins, scan chain reconfiguration, and UDL test capability are presented. Testability enhancement for development of high quality test vector is also described. As the result, a very high fault coverage of 99.68% has been achieved. We also present th...

Divertor design for the tokamak physics experiment

In this paper we discuss the divertor design for the planned TPX tokamak, which will explore the physics and technology of steady state (1000 s pulses) heat and particle removal in high confinement (up to 4 × L-mode), high beta (up to /3 N = 5) divertor plasmas sustained by non-inductive current drive. TPX will operate in the double-null divertor configuration, with actively cooled graphite tar...

The Tokamak Fusion Core Experiment Studies

B.C. LOGAN: By what factor does steady-state current drive reduce the overall costs for your advanced design? M. YOSHIKAWA: We have not really examined the cost of the reactor itself, and we can only guess at the difference in radius: it seems likely, however, that the radius would be reduced from 5 m to 4 m, so that the economic gain might be expressed as 5s 42/52, or about 35%. S.O. DEAN: Do ...
